2020 marks the end of the second decade of the Third Millennium and it has started as an unmitigated disaster, with the Covid-19 pandemic.
This has blighted the chances of holding the pivotal Climate conference, COP 26, in Glasgow, Scotland, this coming November.
This is disastrous for the global effort to achieve the goals set out in the Paris accord, after the failure of COP 25, and four consecutive years of rising greenhouse gas emissions.
On top of these events, we are seeinga number of equally disastrous initiatives:
USA: Donald J. Trump spearheading a rescue effort for the Fossil Fuel industry;
Jair Bolsonaro actively promoting the deforestation of the Amazon, in Brazil, to increase the acreage converted from ancient, indigenous tropical forest that used to absorb and fix carbon, to intensive agriculture;
A significant proportion of this new land will to be converted to meat ranching, dairy farming and manufacturing industry – all net GHG emitters – and palm oil plantations, that replace natural habitats and destroy biodiversity.
Ranged against these destructive interests are the growing elements of the Global Climate Movement, that has mobilised an unprecedented number of people of all ages and from all walks of life, in many Countries across every inhabited Continent.

These orgaisations, actions and initiatives have given a global voice and created an arena for action in opposition to business-as-usual of dirty, harmful capitalist paradigm of Neo-Liberal Economics.
But most ‘ordinary people’ have remained indifferent to these momentous changes, and only now, under the shattering realisation of the fragility of the human enterprise, are the masses waking up to the illusory nature of XXIst century rality.
Covid 19 has changed everything!
Manufacturing and tech industry, commerce, agriculture, leisure and tourism, and even worship, have all ground to a halt, paralysed by a virus invisible to all but the most powerful electron microscopes, shattering our delusion of superiority, as Owners of the Earth and masters of nature.
And so a new paradigm MUST emerge!
From the manufacture of electric vehicles, plant-based and lab-grown meat, to the cultivation of new, as well as traditional plant-fibre yarns, as the world rejects plastics, fossil fuels and toxic chemicals, opportunities open-up in the alternative markets.
Jobs form the gas and oil industry are set to migrate to Renewable Hydrogen Production from wind, solar, tidal and wave electricity generation. Together with developments, like Aluminium-Air Fuel Cells, new tech is opening-up alternative, sustainable option for electricity storage, transport and distribution.
These are the future, and if we, the consumers and investors create the demand NOW, we ensure there will be a tomorrow.
The Markets are waking up to the fact that people are increasingly voting with our wallets. As well as public protests and demonstrations, sit-ins and occupations, we need to act in large groups, syndicating purchasing, to control price and guarantee good income streams for suppliers who respond to the new demends of a Sustainable marketplace. Getting the message to commerce, industry and finance, that the Climate Crisis is our first and main concern, we need to move our purchasing power to support ethical, green, sustainable business, not in 10 years’ time, but NOW!
