Over 27 years ago 1700 world scientists issued the first Scientists’ Warning to Humanity, published Jul 16, 1992 and presented to the Rio Summit.
Two years ago 15,364 scientist signatories from 184 countries issued the World Scientists’ Warning to Humanity: A Second Notice, published 13 November 2017
We are now entering the final leg of a race we are losing, and there may be no third warning, except of the beginnng of the era of Effects of the irreversible conclusion of our sloth and negligent indifference.
But what is it we are racing against?
Let us summarise:
In an email dated November 13, 2019, Stuart Scott reveals how, still in 2019, science is discovering how badly some of these impacts have been underestimated. Whether the underreporting is deliberate or due to overcautious assessment, it is difficult to know, and probably irrelevant.
The fact is that much of the world’s humanity has been in denial and is now acting as though the media stories about recent science announcements (of how much worse emissions have got, in recent years, about there being prehaps just 12 years,- downgraded to just 18 months by some – before the damage is irreversible) and the many tipping points great and small, that are now irrevocably in the past.
“– The methane release in the Arctic is under-reported and is perhaps one of the best kept secrets… we should discuss this part over the phone since even the so-called climate scientists are blocking it out of mind since the ramifications are so extreme. It’s left out of the models and the IPCC is only beginning to mention it (not track, quantify, extrapolate and include in their models). It’s hard to get their heads around the possible fatal blow that is underway.” –
